Partner Feature: Cafe Josephine at the Randall Museum

Cafe Josephine’s patio with a panoramic view of the city.

This month we’re highlighting our amazing wholesale partner, Cafe Josephine. Nestled in Corona Heights Park, this cafe is next to the Randall Museum and features a panoramic view of San Francisco. The Randall Museum has lots of interactive exhibits focused on nature, science, history, and the Bay Area, and has free admission. We highly recommend you plan a visit to both! Our customer support manager, Stephen James Davidson, asked them to share with you all. Read on to learn more—we hope you enjoy!

Please introduce yourself and tell us how you ended up in the cafe world.

I'm Sahara, owner of the business (Satchel) that operates Cafe Josephine at the Randall Museum. I've always loved my daily ritual of coffee, and became interested in coffee and sustainably grown food long ago when I was studying agriculture. I had opportunities to work on farms with shade grown coffee, and really appreciated all that goes into making a good cup of coffee. When I returned to SF, I worked in food service with people that were just as interested in where their food came from as to how it was prepared. I always loved the Randall Museum and jumped on the opportunity to help create their first cafe on the premises!

What makes Cafe Josephine special and different from other cafes and restaurants?

Cafe Josephine is attached to the Randall Museum, an eclectic museum located in Corona Heights Park. We have one of the best views of SF from our patio deck, with the Corona Heights Park trail leading right to the deck! It's just as beautiful at night with the glimmering view of the city, which has made it a perfect place to have outdoor events during these COVID times. Yes, we cater too!

How do you approach hospitality and customer service?

With kindness, and patience! We're very fortunate to have clientele that make it easy for us too.

Share one random fact about Cafe Josephine.

Cafe Josephine survived off of doing weekly meal offerings for about a year and a half during the pandemic. While it was difficult, I really enjoyed creating a new menu every week based off of super fresh, seasonal ingredients. We got really good at our soups, and those still change weekly! Our sandwiches and salads change with the season. (Thank you to every single customer that supported us through that time.)

What is your favorite Andytown coffee?

My recent favorite coffee, was the Colombian coffee, which I shared with my family and staff and they all loved it too! We miss it now, but I love exploring all the coffees to see which one will stand out to my palate the most. The Ethiopian is what I'm drinking now.

Where is Cafe Josephine located?

199 Museum Way in SF- We're on the side of the Randall Museum!
