Hello Andytown blog & newsletter readers! Corey here. We are beginning a new regular feature in our newsletter to highlight our wholesale partnerships. Many of these partners have been with us through the pandemic and even many years prior, and we appreciate them so much. They do lots of cool things too, and we want to share them with you! Up first, our customer support manager, Stephen James Davidson, interviewed Jill and Cecca from the Barn down in Half Moon Bay. Every time I drive down the coast I plan to stop here on one leg of the trip—their food is amazing.
Andytown: Please introduce yourself and tell us how you ended up in the cafe/restaurant world.
The Barn: We are Jill Klein and Cecca Dobbs, the Burgeristas and co-creators of The Barn restaurant in gorgeous Half Moon Bay, CA. We ended up in this beautiful world of hospitality because we love food, people, and our families raised kids that are a little nuts. We have both worked in the food industry our entire adult lives.The Barn was our destiny, and who doesn't love the coast? We have lots of open space, and while we don't have time to surf, we hear it's a rad destination for catching some juicy waves - - - and burgers. Heck, we are less than 30 minutes from Andytown. It's a good balance between city and country. Life is very good at The Barn.
What makes The Barn special and different from other cafes and restaurants?
WE LOVE OUR CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Their faces kept us alive throughout covid. People when they had nowhere to go during COVID, they came to The Barn to celebrate their kids birthdays in their cars, their anniversaries on the tailgate of their truck, we even had a person ask his girlfriend to marry him in our beer garden, all while at The Barn during COVID. Endless Barn Smiles for Miles. Humans are amazing!!!!!!!!!
How do you approach hospitality and customer service?
Our approach is simple, we all need to eat, so we might as well EAT WELL. We do soups, salads, and sandwiches. Our burger is pretty famous with locals. We make everything in house minus our delicious ice cream from Marianne's in Santa Cruz and of course, we leave all the coffee roasting to the passionate people at Andytown. Our dressings, our pies, our marinades, our pickles, even our American cheese is homemade, and made with LUV. One of our favorite things on our menu is our Affogato milkshake made with - you guessed it - Andytown espresso and Marianne's Ice Cream. No words can describe how perfect it is. You really need to try it to believe it. It's superlative, spectacular SPECTACULAR in the words of the vernacular. It's right up there with our favorite drink at Andytown, The Snowy Plover. Oh man!

One random fact, we like making up words. When you come to the Barn for the first time, we call it your BARN-MITZVAH. If you haven't celebrated yours, it's high time for your first, second, third, or one thousandth, AFFOGATO MILKSHAKE. It's a marriage made in heaven.
